When someone mentions a trip to Dublin, Guinness and the Irish Pubs are likely the first things that come to mind! We’re here to share our favourite pubs beyond the staple Temple Bar, helping you enjoy the ultimate pub crawl around this vibrant city like a local.

ICONIC & HISTORIC PUBS:
1. The Long Hall – Best for the Unique Building
If you love your beers served up in an old Victorian beer house, this is the place for you. The Long Hall features a narrow layout, a stunning mahogany bar, and still has some of the original drinks dispensers. It offers a wide beer selection and a lively atmosphere. A favourite among celebrities, including Bruce Springsteen and Rihanna!
2. Kehoe’s – James Joyce Fans
One of Dublin’s oldest pubs, just off Grafton Street, Kehoe’s has been serving drinks since 1803. With its warm welcome and lively vibe, it’s a popular spot for both locals and tourists. A must-visit for fans of James Joyce.
3. Grogan’s – A Break from Sight-seeing
Perfect for a relaxed break during a day of sightseeing, Grogan’s offers a welcoming, traditional Irish pub experience. Great for unwinding with a pint in hand.
4. Davy Byrne’s – Upmarket Literary Lovers
Famous for its literary connection to James Joyce, this pub is slightly more upmarket than others. It offers a historic charm, a lively atmosphere, and a focus on food, making it a great choice all round.
LIVE MUSIC & VIBRANT VIBES:

5. The Cobblestone – Trad Music
For authentic Irish traditional music, The Cobblestone is a must-visit. Musicians often gather here for impromptu jam sessions. Located in Smithfield, near the Jameson Distillery and about a 20-minute walk from the Guinness Storehouse, it’s worth the trip.
6. Hairy Lemon – Film Lovers
Known for its feature in the film The Commitments, this pub is a lively tourist hotspot. It’s filled with memorabilia, has screens for sports, and offers live music—although finding a seat can be a challenge.
7. The Stag’s Head – Live Music
Located on Dame Lane, this authentic Irish pub is small but brimming with charm. Known for its live music, it’s in a bustling area filled with great restaurants and bars.
8. Quay Bar – Touristy Fun
Located across the road from the famous Temple Bar, Quay Bar often features live music and a lively atmosphere. If it’s your first-time in Dublin it’s a great spot to come to in the most touristy area.
LOCAL FAVOURITES:

9. The Ferryman – Quirky Charm
Situated along the Quays near the site of the famous Windmill Studios, this traditional Georgian pub overlooks the River Liffey. With quirky character and charm, it’s a beloved spot for locals.
10. The Bleeding Horse – After work vibes
A short walk from St. Stephen’s Green, this pub dates back to the 17th century and has been featured in several novels, including James Joyce’s Ulysses. It’s popular for after-work drinks and offers a fun, late-night atmosphere.
11. The Blue Light – The Views
Set up in the Wicklow Mountains, this pub offers stunning views and a traditional Irish feel. Enjoy live music, a cosy fireplace, and a perfectly poured Guinness. It doesn’t get much more local than here.
12. Smyth’s Pub – Drinks with the trendy locals
Located in the trendy Ranelagh area, Smyth’s is a classic Irish pub. It’s a great spot for an afternoon or evening of enjoying good drinks and friendly company in a traditional style pub.
HIDDEN GEMS:

13. Neary’s – Cosy Drinks
Just off Grafton Street, Neary’s is a cosy escape from the rain. Its intimate upstairs bar and charming ambience make it a lovely spot for a pint or 2.
14. Kennedy’s Pub – Cheap Student Drinks
Across from Trinity College, this large pub is a favorite among students, locals, and tourists. It’s open late and offers hearty Irish food at reasonable prices.
15. Bruxelles – Late Night Fun
Situated off Grafton Street, Bruxelles is a lively bar where locals and tourists pack in. The upstairs bar is one of my all-time favourites, but there’s also a rock bar downstairs. Perfect for ending a night out with singing and dancing.
